Presidio Soccer League, San Diego's premier youth soccer gaming league, has announced a pilot program aimed initially at its older, more competitive and aggressive teams.
The program which goes into effect immediately for the 2007 - 2008 gaming season, encourages teams to play both SAFELY and FAIRLY.
Unsportsmanlike and unsafe play are being targeted from multiple angles. One component of the program rewards good sportsmanship play, while another imposes increased penalties for unsafe play not only to the player, but also the team and especially to the coach.
Clubs and their coaches are in the best position to control how their teams play at game time and as such will be held to a higher standard of expected responsibility. If a player becomes too aggressive and plays in an unsafe and unsportsmanlike manner, the coach has a high degree of responsibility having the ability to immediately remove the player from the playing field, for the safety of all.
Coaches not controlling their teams that receive an excessive amount of penalties will receive a suspension and a possible Trial Board Hearing, depending of course on the circumstances.
